Tommy Dorsey was an extremely successful bandleader from the 1930s until the ‘50s. His technical skill on the trombone was unmatched and earned him respect amongst musicians and the public alike. In the history of the Big Bands, The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is recognized as one of the all-time best swing orchestras in the world. With the collaboration of Paul Weston, Axel Stordahl and Sy Oliver, Tommy Dorsey created superb arrangements for his feverish dance tunes or romantic ballads that remain immortal today. Over the years The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra musicians have been the masters of creating ‘mood’ with their sentimental favorites or the upbeat tempos that got the world dancing. Frank Sinatra joined Tommy Dorsey in early 1940. Frank Sinatra’s career literally exploded with the help of Dorsey and in turn, it was Sinatra’s smooth vocals that propelled The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra to a new level of popularity! He was with The TDO until September 1942 when he embarked on his remarkable solo career.

“Stardust,” “Night and Day,” “Marie,” “Song of India,” and “I’ll Never Smile Again,” are only a few of the songs immortalized by the brilliant combination of The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and their singer Frank Sinatra … And now, this legendary Big Band, led by the excellent Jeff Bush, tours America to honor the magic of this incomparable team. “THE MALE INTELLECT: AN OXYMORON?”  – Ritz Theatre – Winter Haven

Activity Level: 2

Robert Dubac’s original tour-de-force one-man show tackling the babble of the sexes! It has become a worldwide phenomenon. It is hands-down the funniest relationship show you will ever see-taking audiences on a provocative and uproariously funny journey through the gender gap. Dubac has built the show not around what men and women do right (or wrong) but around the more starling truth that confuse both sexes as they try to maintain a new order of balance. On a quest to answer the age-old question, "What do women want?" Robert Dubac seamlessly transforms himself into five hysterical boneheads who each offer sidesplitting advice on how to straddle the gender gap - all while drinking a beer.

HISTORIC RITZ THEATRE - The Ritz was built in 1925. The Vaudeville style theatre was home to live musical performances including a 50-man Orchestra, silent movies known back in the day as "talkies", black and white film, live theatre performances, and concerts of all levels. The movies, live concerts, and theatre performances continued at the Theatre well into the 1960s and 70s. As the communities and surrounding areas began to grow and change, so did a need for The Ritz Theatre to take on a new face. The movie houses were no longer viable; the theatre went dark. In the 1980's the Theatre opened as a Teen Night Club. After a short time, the Theatre was closed and boarded up. In 1996 a group of concerned citizens joined forces and formed the Ritz Theatre 100, Inc. with one goal and one goal only "to save The Ritz". After 16 years, over 83,115 volunteer hours, and clearing many hurdles, the facility was restored to its original beauty.
