In 1972, Solomon began building his castle in a swamp in Ona, Florida. The artist built the castle out of aluminum printing plates discarded from the local newspaper. Besides the usual castle amenities—bell tower, dungeon, moat, and drawbridge–the castle has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and ninety stained glass windows. While there is not much else in Ona, FL, the castle has gained a lot of attention over the past forty plus years. It has appeared on CNN, HGTV’s ‘Extreme Homes’, and in the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. The castle was more than a home to Solomon. It is an ever-changing gallery of his artwork. Solomon created hundreds of pieces for you to enjoy. You do not need to be art connoisseur to admire a Solomon sculpture. All you need is a pair of eyes and a sense of humor. Like the castle, Solomon created his artwork from discarded items. On your visit, you will see cans, bike gears, automotive parts, and other ‘parts’ made up in ways you have never imagined. His artwork includes “The Car with a V-8 engine”; “Evil Kornevil”, a motorcycle made from automotive parts; and “Jeb the Bushman”, an elephant made from oil drums.

Since its establishment in 1973, Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has formed the largest scientifically documented collection of living orchids in the world. The Orchid Show highlights spectacular orchids from the living collection for which it is known across the globe.
The Orchid Show consists of a horticultural display in the Tropical Conservatory and an exhibition in the Museum of Botany & the Arts. The horticultural display is abounded with orchids of various shapes, colors, and patterns, illustrating the beauty and diversity of one of the largest families of flowering plants. Some hang on rocks over a pond created just for this show, as they would grow naturally in their tropical habitats. Some are placed against cork or paired with little custom three-dimensional pots; some ornamented with driftwood and framed by ferns and moss.
The exhibition consists of images and artifacts illustrating the history of Selby Gardens, with particular emphasis on the remarkable people and plants that make it such a special place. We will have a 1-hour docent-led tour, followed by time to explore the Museum and Tropical Conservatory on our own. Certified as one of the top five haunted houses in Florida, the May Stringer Historical House is a 4 story, seven gable, gingerbread trim, 14 room “Painted Lady” Victorian era home overlooking the City of Brooksville on Florida’s Adventure Coast, Brooksville-Weeki Wachee. There are rooms devoted to specific themes such as an Elegant Dining Room, Victorian Bedrooms, Military Room, an 1880’s Doctor’s Office, and a 1900s Communication Room. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Train Depot Museum in Brooksville FL is a historical landmark, offering visitors a chance to experience the town’s past. The museum houses a vast collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents related to the history of Brooksville, as well as the railroad industry. The museum also houses a library and research center, where visitors can view original documents, photographs, and other historic records related to Brooksville and the railroad industry.
The Countryman Family One Room Schoolhouse is reminiscent of the First Schoolhouse in Hernando County built in 1852 by Fredrick Lykes. We will bring you back in time to experience our school lessons while sitting in authentic wooden desks. Our interactive lessons include the 3 R’s and life skills like carrying water jugs from the local well. Docents dressed in period attire will teach you the 3 R's in the reconstructed classroom. Exhibits of early toys and games as well as Native American artifacts and history. Newly constructed, in the spirit of the original one-room schoolhouse built by the Lykes family in 1852.

Each year, Christmas at Biltmore has a different theme and different color scheme, ensuring that every holiday season at Biltmore is unique. • Our adventure begins as we make our way to Ashville, NC with lunch stop (OYO). Our first night will be at the Drury Plaza Hotel, Pooler, GA for a one-night stay, where we will have a relaxing evening and enjoy the Drury Inns KICKBACK! • Enjoy a delicious breakfast. Today we will be traveling to Asheville, NC, where we will check into our hotel, the Hampton Inn, for a one-night stay.
• Candlelight Christmas Dinner at Stable Café – we head directly to the Biltmore Estate. We start with a Victorian holiday dinner at the Stable Café then head to the Biltmore House or a candlelit tour.
• Biltmore Candlelight Evening Tour - Biltmore captures the magic of the holidays with grandeur, style and sheer wonder with more than 40 trees decorated by their talented staff, plus miles of ribbon and garland. Candlelight, firelight, dramatic outdoor illuminations, live music and entertainment accent the extravagant holiday decor of Biltmore House, creating an evening to remember.
DAY THREE
• Biltmore Estate & King Tut - Following breakfast this morning, we will visit Biltmore Estate. America’s largest privately owned home and cross the threshold into a world of beauty virtually unchanged for more than a century. Savor a self-guided visit to Biltmore House exploring grand spaces filled with masterpieces of art and stunning antiques. We will also tour Biltmore Estate’s “Tutankhamun: His Tomb and His Treasures” The exhibition showcases true-to-life, expertly crafted artifact replicas of King Tutankhamun's, King Tut's, tomb and other treasures. A boxed lunch is included.
• Welcome to Pigeon Forge, TN. our next destination. Upon arrival we will check into the new Drury Plaza Hotel for a two-night stay.
• Array Variety Christmas Show - This evening, after a quick bite at the hotel, we will enjoy a Christmas extravaganza at the Array Variety Show. • The Patty Waszak Morning Show After breakfast, depart from the hotel for the Red Skelton Tribute Theater and enjoy the Patty Waszak Morning Show. The Patty Waszak show is, “the longest running morning show in Pigeon Forge, featuring a wide variety of music including big band favorites, polkas, 50s and 60s rock 'n' roll, country music, 70s disco, show tunes, patriotic, hits of the 80s, 90s, current hits ethnic melodies, audience participation, sing-a-long, and music trivia and whole lot of comedy.
